Volunteering with Ourimbah Scouts

Our Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Group, and without them we couldn't deliver a program that enriches and changes the lives of the youth in our group.

Volunteering just got easier!

Our Group is part of an exciting new program to help make Volunteering and getting Qualified so much easier. It's an easy process.

Step 1: - Sign up as a new adult member volunteer via our registration form here

You will need to have a volunteer level Working With Children Check (info on obtaining one can be found here ). Once you have registered you will be sent a link to obtain a Police Check. We will also need a couple of references we can check.

Step 2: Training as a Team Supporter.

This training is self-paced, takes about 90 minutes all up, and covers Safeguarding Members, Health and Safety and an Introduction to Scouting. Once this is done you will achieve a Team Supporter Certificate and you can put on the famous blue shirt and start attending nights as a leader (with another leader present).

Step 3: Training as a full Team Member or Team Leader in your chosen Section

This involves some fundamental training in Achievement Pathways for our youth, programming, and risk and incident management. This training is comprised of self-paced online learning and some face to face learning. This takes about 5.5 hours all up, and you will come out with a Volunteer Fundamentals Skills Certificate. You'll be able to run in hall nights with other adults helpers.

From there....the pathways are endless. If you want to lead bushwalks, take that module.....if camping if your thing, do a camping module. The choices and skills for you are endless.

The whole time you will be paired with an existing Scouting Volunteer as a mentor to ask questions and help you along the way. You won't have to do any of it alone.

This is an exciting new model and Ourimbah is thrilled to help deliver this to new volunteers. Get in contact today, I can be emailed at amanda.smith@nsw.scouts.com.au. Or talk to one our amazing leaders. We'd love to have you.
